Tan Sri Datuk Dr Kamal Salih
Sri Datuk Dr. Kamal Salih, born in 1946, graduated with B.A. (Hons) (Tan Monash) and PhD (Uni. Pennsylvania) in 1973. Served Universiti Sains Malaysia between 1973-85 as Professor, Dean and Deputy VC (Academic). He was the founding Executive Director of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) 1986-1994. As a policy advisor Tan Sri Kamal was a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Panel in 1981-86, the Malaysian Business Council 1991-1996, and acted as the Rapporteur-General of the first National Economic Consultative Council, MAPEN1 1989- 1991. In 1992 he established the first private medical college in Malaysia, the International Medical University (IMU) and remained its Executive Chairman until 2004. On retiring from IMU, Tan Sri Kamal served as economic advisor on the National Implementation Task Force (NITF) in the Abdullah Badawi Admin 2006-08. He was elected Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju from 1996 to 1999. In 1996 he established Yayasan Wangsa Maju now known as Yayasan Mahkota, and remains its Chairman until now. He was for a time Senior Technical Advisor at UNDP Malaysia. He has recently returned to MIER as it’s Chairman. He is currently also Adjunct Professor of Economics and Development Studies in Asia Europe Institute Universiti Malaya. He is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER). He also will next month be assume the President of the newly formed ASG Group of Companies.
Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Sulaiman MahboB
Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob is the Chairman of Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG). Dr. Sulaiman was once a career civil servant in the Malaysian Government and his last designation was the Director‐General of Economic Planning Unit (EPU 2006 – 2009) of the Prime Minister’s Dept. During his service, he had also served in the Ministry of Finance (Economics and Budget Divisions) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs. Currently, Sulaiman serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank), Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN). He was also a Member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal between 2014 and 2017. Sulaiman had also been the Chairman of Malaysia Investment Development Authority (2010 – 2012) and was a board member of Perbadanan Insurance Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for several years. He is also an Adjunct Professor at University of Malaya (INPUMA) and University Tun Razak (UNIRAZAK) where he teaches Economics and Public Policy. Dr. Sulaiman studied economics at University of Malaya and then at the University of London, and finished his PhD at Maxwell School, Syracuse University, USA. He was the President of Malaysian Economic Association throughout 2015 ‐ 2018. Dr. Sulaiman frequently contributes articles on Economic Policy, Public Finance and Development to the local press, in particular New Straits Times (NST). He has also given lectures abroad on Malaysian Economy and Public Policy, specifically in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan and Sudan.
Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr Anuwar Ali
An economist and exponent of higher education. His vast experience in education has spanned for more than 30 years with a humble beginning as a tutor in the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1973. From then on, with perseverance and dedication he rose in ranks to become the Dean of Economics in 1993 and ultimately the Vice-Chancellor of UKM on 1 May 1998. In addition to this, he was the Director of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education (1995–1998) and Chairman of the Malaysian Examination Council (2001–2003).
Dato' Hamzah Bakar
He was appointed to the Board of SapuraCrest Petroleum on 4 July 2003
as a nominee of Sapura Technology Sdn Bhd. He was then appointed as the Non-Independent
Non-Executive Chairman of SapuraCrest Petroleum on 25 July 2003. He was also the
Chairman of the Nomination Committee and Remuneration Committee of SapuraCrest
Petroleum. Dato’ Hamzah had served 20 years in various senior management and Board
positions in Petroliam Nasional Berhad (“PETRONAS”) including as a Senior Vice President
for Refining and Marketing as well as a Senior Vice President for Corporate Planning and
Development. He also served as the first Chief Executive Officer of KLCC Holdings Berhad,
responsible for the planning and construction of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre including the
landmark PETRONAS Twin Towers. Prior to joining PETRONAS, he served in the
Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department for 12 years. He previously sat
on the Boards of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad as well as CIMB Investment Bank Berhad.
Tan Sri Datuk Yong Poh Kon
He has served as a Board member of the Malaysian Productivity Corporation, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority and Bank Negara Malaysia. He was also a Member of the National Economic Consultative Council (MAPEN I and II), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and a member of the Advisory Board of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. He was appointed as Co-Chair of PEMUDAH the “Special Task Force to Facilitate Business” together with the Chief Secretary of Malaysia from 2007 to 2013. In 2013, he was appointed as member of the Economic Council of the Prime Minister’s office. He is currently the Chairman of Royal Selangor International Sdn. Bhd. and GS1 Malaysia Berhad. He is a director of TAHPS Group Berhad, and RAM Holdings Berhad. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences and the Malaysian Institute of Management. Tan Sri was previously the President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (“FMM”).

Dato’ Dr M SHANmughalingam is Managing Director, Trilogic Sdn Bhd. He helped list six companies on Main Board, Bursa Malaysia. Ex-Director, Delloyd Ventures Bhd, Mamee Double Decker (M) Bhd, PBA Holdings Bhd, listed on Main Board, CIMB (L) Limited, CIMB Discount House Bhd, CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd, Hextar Holdings Bhd, EON, MIDF Aberdeen Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Executive Committee, MIMB, (subsidiary, MIDF, assoc. Barclays Bank Group, UK), PTD Alumni Association, Board, VIOBA Foundation, Selectors Board, Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University. Managing Director, Sri Inderajaya Sdn Bhd (1992 – 96), General Manager, PETRONAS (1979 – 91), Dep. Secretary (Economic) the Treasury, Ministry of Finance (1962 – 78).
